Davis Center, a long-standing 32-bed NF/MI facility located outside Bloomfield, Iowa, is seeking an administrator, due to retirement.

The center specializes in care for individuals age 65 or older who have a primary mental health diagnosis and require nursing care. Davis Center opened its doors as Iowa’s first intermediate care facility for seniors with mental illness, and it has consistently earned a five-star rating from the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid based on health inspections, quality of medical care and the time nurses spend with residents. U.S. News & World Report also named it among the top nursing homes in the U.S. in 2015.
The Social Worker is a designated staff member who is suited by training and/or experience to arrange for social services and to integrate social services with other elements o the overall plan of care. The Social Worker is responsible for attaining or maintaining the highest feasible physical, mental and psycho-social well being of each resident. The Social Worker is responsible for complying with and interpreting to the residents, as necessary, the state and federal regulations for nursing homes concerning residents rights and facility policies.
Education:
- Must have a bachelor’s degree in social work or a BS, BA or certified licensure as an LBSW
- Experience in social services for at least one year with a private or public agency
Knowledge, abilities, skills
- An interest in working with the elderly
- Exhibit tact, patience, sympathy and understanding
- Ability to assess the social and economic aspects of resident care
- Be able to identify changes in affect, behavior or personality, such as depression, anxiety, withdrawal or uncontrolled aggression and report these to the Director or Nursing Services
- Be able to identify modifying treatment for positive response
- Be able to communicate with community resources
- Assist in formulating, implementing and evaluating the resident’s overall plan of care
