JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Receptionist/Office Assistant is responsible for routine clerical matters and assuring that documents flow in a coordinated and efficient manner.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides assistance to the Administrator and Office Manager, preserving the confidential nature of items of which he/she has knowledge
- Maintains the files, supplies, postage and general office condition in an orderly manner.
- Handles all correspondence and word processing as assigned.
- Maintains minutes of meetings as needed.
- Answers telephone inquiries and channels them appropriately.
- Files clinical notes.
- As necessary, sends physician’s orders for signature. Keeps current log of what is sent and tracks receipt of signed documents.
- Closes patient’s clinical record when discharged.
- Maintains current patient statistics utilizing the Management Information System.
- Files all elements of patient records on a daily basis.
- Receives and routes daily incoming mail.
- Prepares daily outgoing mail.
- Answers telephone lines promptly and efficiently. Responds to message content appropriately. Records telephone calls onto call log.
- Special projects and other related duties as assigned.
- Assists the functions of billing, payroll, human resource management, and patient care management through timely and accurate data entry and system reporting.
- Performs other specific projects relating to data entry and computer operations as required.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient and organization information at all times.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- Is at least 18 years of age.
- High School graduate.
- Two (2) years data entry experience. Previous billing and computer experience, preferably in Home Health or similar operation.
- Previous health care related billing experience.
SKILLS REQUIRED
- Ability to type 50 words per minute
- Word processing skills
- Personal Computer skills
- Business machine knowledge
