EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Four year degree is preferred.
- Experience in related skill and knowledge preferred.
- QuickBooks experience preferred.
JOB SUMMARY
The position of Farm Production Manager is to manage Optimae’s farm micro business and is responsible for the outcome of the business. The duties of the Farm Production Manager are based on five areas: Coordination of Production, Supervisory Role, Coordination of Marketing and Customer Service, Upkeep of Social Media accounts, and Financial Coordination.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordination of Production
- Ensure customer staff have all needed material to do their job effectively (i.e., supplies, tools, feed, etc.) at base location.
- Coordinate with Farm Production Coordinator for the needs of other location(s).
- Responsible for dispersing customer staff daily tasks at Farm Production Managers base location.
- Find replacements for customer staff at the Farm Production Managers base location, in coordination with the Team Leader or designee.
- Review staff’s time sheets to ensure they coordinate with the contact notes.
- Turn in staff’s completed time sheets to Team Leader or designee.
- Meet with supervisors weekly to review coordination of program, staff concerns, and customer driven services.
Supervisory Role
- Schedule monthly customer staff meetings for customer staff.
- Schedule monthly coaching sessions with all team members at base location. Turn these forms into supervisors.
- Coordinate coaching at other location(s) with Assistant Farm Production Manager(s) or designee.
- Conduct customer staff member evaluations at base location. Turn into supervisors.
- Coordinate evaluations at other location(s) with Assistant Farm Production Manager(s) or designee.
- Participate in disciplinary actions and exit interviews, for customers, with supervisor.
- Be available to answer all team member questions regarding farm production.
- Train new team members on the Standard Operating Procedures of the Farm.
- Ensure assigned daily tasks are completed or adjusted as progress is made.
Coordination of Marketing and Customer Service
- Community Supported Agriculture (CSA Program)
- Marketing throughout the year (brochures, events, etc.)
- Organize seasonal enrollments/memberships.
- Manage weekly stickers for CSA boxes/cartons.
- Send weekly newsletter during the CSA season (Mail Chimp).
- Manage the ongoing email list of current/past customers (Mail Chimp).
- Marketing Events
- Organizing for weekly farmer’s markets.
- Arranging monthly Sample Sunday’s at Picket Fence.
- Coordinating other marketing opportunities that arise.
- Farm Email Account and Phone
- Retail Sales
- Maintaining current retail relationships.
- Reaching out to make new retail connections.
- Updating Iowa Food Coop sales on a bi-weekly basis.
Upkeep of Social Media Accounts
- Manage daily posts on Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest.
- Maintain and establish connections through SnapChat.
Financial Coordination
- Maintain the QuickBooks account for the farm.
- Invoice customers at the appropriate times.
- Weekly for retail establishment
- Seasonally for CSA share holders
- Maintain accounts receivable.
- Payment on accounts
- Payroll Deduct
- Bank deposits
- Maintain accounts payable.
- Recurring invoices
- Receipts for purchases
- Invoice customers at the appropriate times.
- Generate monthly reports for the designee
- Wage to revenue reports by pay period.
PHYSICAL EXPECTATIONS
- Ability to lift and carry:
- up to 15 lbs. frequently
- up to 40 lbs. occasionally.
- up to 80 lbs. rarely.
- Ability to climb stairs while carrying objects.
- Normal vision with correction.
- Normal range of hearing with corrections.
- Frequently perform daily duties which involve standing, bending, pivoting, squatting, kneeling, and crouching.
