- Education and experience commensurate with the duties of the job.
- Extensive knowledge of and experience in the system of services to persons with serious and persistent mental illness, intellectual disabilities and developmental disabilities including knowledge of evidence-based practices and programs for providing services.
- Experience in all service aspects including: providing services, managing service providers and providing leadership to service programs is highly desirable.
- The ability to work well both independently and in numerous teams; to be able to understand, support and thrive in Optimae’s centerless structure.
- The desire to run the KAT Department “as if you own it”; because in a sense you do.
- The desire and ability to have fun at work and a willingness to have fun while working (a good sense of humor is a handy tool to have at Optimae).
- Experience developing and providing educational programs and training to adults is desirable.
- Capability with or the ability to learn to utilize various IT applications to provide education and training and to manage outcomes of educational programs and training is also highly desirable.
- Experience working with research programs and institutions is a plus.
- Must be able to travel within the state of Iowa and, on occasion, nationally.
JOB SUMMARY
The Coordinator of Knowledge Acquisition and Transfer (KAT) provides leadership for and coordination of the process of researching, evaluating, obtaining and/or attaining, implementing and evaluating cutting-edge knowledge and technology for use by Optimae programs, services and employees in carrying out the mission, vision and values of Optimae. This is a leadership-level position in Optimae’s centerless organization and will need to both exercise a high degree of independent judgment and to provide leadership to and work well within a number of Optimae teams. This position will report to the Director of Quality Service and Improvement but will also need to coordinate closely with members of the Operations Team and with the Quality Improvement Program (QIP) Team.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- The ability to work well both independently and in numerous teams; to be able to understand, support and thrive in Optimae’s centerless structure.
- Integrate KAT with service policy and procedure and QI/QA process.
- Participate in the development of new projects.
- Coordinate KAT with research and outcome efforts.
- Coordinate KAT with Regional Directors.
- Provide leadership to Regional KAT Coordinators.
- Serve as a member of the QIP Team.
- Provide KAT resources to Regional and local Leadership Teams upon request.
- Stay current on best practices in various disability service fields; attend conferences, read literature, take classes, etc.
- Work on special KAT-related projects as assigned.
PHYSICAL EXPECTATIONS
- Ability to lift and carry:
- up to 25 lbs. occasionally.
- up to 40 lbs. rarely.
- Normal vision with correction.
- Normal hearing with correction.
- Occasionally be called upon to perform daily duties involving bending, pivoting, squatting, kneeling and crouching.
