EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE

- Current license with the Iowa Board of Nursing.
- Certification with US Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration for Controlled Substance Registration Certificate.
- ANCC Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner preferred
- Certification with State of Iowa Board of Pharmacy Examiners for Certificate of Registration Iowa Controlled Substance Act.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive to multiple service settings within a 75 mile radius.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Must have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities :
- Highly developed interpersonal skills to function effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and other relevant legislation.
- Exceptional skills in providing flexible and relevant client-centered treatment rehabilitation and support in the community.
- Expertise in psychiatric assessment and diagnosis, psychotherapy and symptom management, treatment and management of acute and sub-acute situations in the community.
- Excellent skills in psychopharmacology, especially the use of newer anti-psychotic medications.
- Demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of community-based psychiatric care.
- English is essential, bilingualism and other languages an asset.
JOB SUMMARY
Under the general direction of the Clinical Director and as a member of the Optimae LifeServices Team, the ARNP works to provide psychiatric treatment services to individuals and families using a care model which emphasizes health promotion and client education, and encourages clients to take responsibility for their own health. This position will exemplify and adhere to the Mission, Core Values, and Ethics of Optimae LifeServices. The ARNP shall make professional medical diagnosis or treatment of clients and such diagnosis and treatment shall be consistent with standard practices of the nursing profession.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The ARNP has an overall responsibility to Optimae LifeServices customers and participation in a team oriented treatment program. All of the following duties are essential unless otherwise noted:
- Provide outpatient clinical services to customers, taking into account the environmental, social, psychological and medical factors that influence health.
- Assess, diagnose, and prescribe medications to customers, and refers to other resources as appropriate.
- Provide psychotherapy, symptom management, treatment and management of acute and sub-acute situations.
- Provide advice and guidance to team members regarding customers and corresponding treatment.
- Participate in peer review as required.
- Provide supervision as required.
- Assist with the overall planning, development and evaluation of the treatment program by identifying health needs in the community and working with other team members to develop methods of program evaluation.
- Maintain complete and accurate medical records for all customers.
- Assist in the collection and analysis of relevant data for administration, planning and evaluation.
- The ARNP will be accessible to the team during off hours for consultation with Foundation II and ER in accordance with specific arrangements in their Optimae LifeServices contract.
- Work with internal and external service providers and with relevant community groups.
- Participate in regular chart reviews and case conferences.
- Plan and participate in outreach health services.
- Participate actively in information sharing within the Optimae LifeServices team and other community programs.
- Have on-call rotations in accordance with specific arrangements in their Optimae LifeServices contract.

- Adhere to all policies and procedures of Optimae LifeServices.
PHYSICAL EXPECTATIONS
- Ability to respond appropriately in stressful situations involving adults and children that have emotional and mental health issues.
- Ability to perform tasks involving physical activity, which may include lifting, and carrying (up to10 lbs.), bending, and prolonged standing, with reasonable accommodations.
- Normal vision with correction.
- Normal range of hearing with correction.
- Occasionally be called upon to perform pivoting, bending, crawling, squatting, kneeling and crouching activities.
