It is incredibly likely that many of those reading have found themselves dealing with quite a bit of newfound stress this past week. For those of you who are in need, we have some stress relief tips that might help.
Take breaks from watching, reading, or listening to news stories, including social media. It can be really exhausting when it starts to feel like all news is bad news, and taking breaks can do wonders for our mental health and sense of well being.
Take care of your body.
Take deep breaths, stretch, and/or meditate. It only takes one minute of deep breathing to feel the benefits.
Eat healthful, well-balanced meals
Exercise regularly. 150 minutes of moderate exercise throughout the week is recommended.
Get plenty of sleep. 7-9 hours of sleep is recommended for adults.
Make time to unwind. Do some activities you enjoy.
Connect with others. Talk with people you trust about your concerns and how you are feeling.
Use the buddy system. Connect with someone you feel comfortable with, and check in with each other periodically.
Take breaks. Use this time to reset and remind yourself that strong feelings will fade.
Create a menu of self-care activities that you enjoy, such as spending time with your family, exercising, reading a book, or whatever it is that “fills your cup.”
