As mentioned on our post on Sept. 6, September is the month-long observance of Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. Today, Sept. 10, is World Suicide Prevention Day. While the entire month is dedicated to providing information and resources concerning the prevention of suicide among our loved ones as well as ourselves, on the night of Sept. 10, the world is invited to light a candle at 8PM in remembrance of those who have fallen in their struggle, and in support of spreading awareness for preventing suicide from claiming others.
If you wish to commit yourself to further supporting spreading awareness, from Sept 10 to Oct 10, 2020, you can take part in the “Cycling Around the Globe” initiative to help raise awareness and to find suicide prevention activities. One could also share images and their thoughts concerning the matter with the hashtags #WSPD, #worldsuicidepreventionday or #BeThe1To.
Struggling with mental health is a problem so many know all too well. Tonight, we hold those we’ve lost, or those we could have lost in our hearts as we light our candles… or even simply remember.
